God has given us many great promises for the future he has planned for us. (1 Peter 1:1-13). He is making a new “heaven and earth” and one day heaven will come down to earth and the whole of creation will be perfect. (Revelation 21:1-5).
We will have an eternal home in a city called “New Jerusalem” where there is no death, sorrow, pain or crying. (Revelation 21:4). There are so many scriptures declaring the certainty of God’s promises that to doubt them is simply unbelief.
HEAVEN IS OUR HOME
Although the Kingdom of God cannot yet be seen, it nevertheless exists and will fully come when Jesus comes. He is, even now, preparing a heavenly home for us in his Father’s house. (John 14:1-4).
When Jesus spoke of heaven, he could have described streets of gold, angels and all the splendour, but he did not, he described it as his house.
We must never forget that this present world is not our home, and we are pilgrims passing through. (Hebrews 11:10, 12:22, 13:14, Revelation 21:1-4).
We are promised a wonderful home where we will live in peace and safety forever. Nothing can hurt us there, no thief can break in, and there is no decay. It is a place of joy, peace, security, purity and absolute perfection. It is impossible to fully describe it. (Matthew 5:12, 1 Corinthians 2:9).
We are heirs of God’s Kingdom – (Romans 8:16-18, Galatians 4:7, James 2:5). Nothing we experience on earth can compare to the rewards we will have in heaven. No matter how much one has suffered, the reward in heaven will be so great that it is beyond our ability to grasp.
Whatever is done for Christ will be rewarded. Rewards are not earned but given. (Hebrews 11:6). The greatest reward is to be an heir of Christ and a son or daughter of God. He is our hope of glory, and we are heirs of all God’s riches. (Colossians 1:27, Philippians 4:19).
