The Beginning and God’s Eternal Nature

God’s plan unfolded progressively and will end in a great finale. The number seven is significant, for God instituted the first week in the creation account. (Genesis 1). Biblical history, from the beginning of God’s dealing with mankind to the end, is laid out over a millennial week in which the Bible’s message is explained.

God’s Control of Time

God controls time and extends or shortens it. “With the Lord, one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day”. (2 Peter 3:8). The modern theory of evolution cannot be proven and is used to try and discount a Creator. Time is controlled by God and varies throughout the universe. This is why scientists consider it to be relative and subject to change. God, however, is timeless and dwells in eternity and foreordained all the ages of mankind.

In the” beginning”, God made time, but God is not bound by it and inhabits eternity; he transcends time at both beginning and end simultaneously. (Psalm 90:2, Isaiah 57:15, Micah 5:2).

History as “His-Story”

History is actually His Story, for he planned the course of history, both the start and finish, which will not last millions of years, and according to the first apostles, we are already in the “last days”. (Acts 2:17, 2 Timothy 3:1, Hebrews 1:2, James 5:3, 1 Peter 1:20, 2 Peter 3:3-4, 1 John 2:18, Jude 1: 18). To correctly understand the Bible message, we must remain within the Biblical time reference.

God’s Progressive Plan

The birth of Jesus occurred at exactly the right time, in the “fullness of time” (Galatians 4:4). God fully controlled the preceding ages and dealt with mankind step by step, preparing mankind for the coming of Christ at the right moment.

Through different stages, God revealed a progressive plan, from innocence to sin consciousness, then to understanding his law, and finally to salvation in Jesus.

The Present and Future Ages

Since the birth of Christ, over 2000 years has passed, during which the Gospel has been declared throughout the world. Jesus said that after the Gospel had been proclaimed to every nation, he will return, and the end of this present age will occur. (Matthew 24:14).

The apostle John said this would be followed by a thousand years in which all nations will submit to the authority of his Kingdom. (Revelation 20:2-6). This future age is the “Kingdom age” and is a forerunner to the ages still to come in which God’s Kingdom will endure and endlessly increase. (Matthew 25:34, Isaiah  9:7 CJB).
