I love how creation sings praises to our Creator and how He teaches us through it. I love hearing thunder and thinking about how the heavens shout their praise or seeing the wind blow through the trees, making them dance for Him. But the truly treasured moments are when the Holy Spirit removes the veil and a revelation hits you out of nowhere, and you suddenly see a truth previously hidden in creation around you.

One of those moments happened years ago while simply walking between buildings at work. It was a fresh spring morning and the lawn alongside the path in a V-shaped ditch was spawning its seed. I noticed that one side had produced much more seed than the other side, and the academic in me wondered why. I perceived that the only difference between the slopes was that one with more seed faced north, and the other faced south. Being in the Southern Hemisphere, I know that the north-facing slope has a more direct angle to the sun, probably explaining the difference.

Then just like that, revelation hit me. The Holy Spirit spoke to my heart saying that this is the difference between two types of Christians. They are both unobstructed in the sunlight, both receiving goodness and richness from our Father, and both producing seed. But one is consistently looking towards the Son, therefore always producing more seed for His Kingdom. 

Years later, I now see this on my lawn where I’m currently living, but this time with buttercups and bumble bees. More Son, more beauty. 

Dear reader, where can you see this? I encourage us to always look towards the Son, let our focus be on Him continually. Let’s listen to God’s creation today and make Christ our centre in all we do.
